Base Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ cup sour cream
Optional Additions:
- ½ pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Sauté aromatics: Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
- Add tomatoes and seasonings: Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 15–20 minutes.
- Incorporate sour cream: Remove the sauce from heat and slowly stir in sour cream until fully blended.
- Adjust flavors: Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Serve: Toss with cooked pasta, garnish with Parmesan and parsley, and enjoy!
